With Avengers Endgame being released today and with Captain Marvel making well over a billion dollars, where does the MCU go from here? Over 20 plus films in it's short history and several more films in the works, it is clear the MCU is here to stay.
On March 20, the Disney and 20th Century Fox deal officially went through. There are now hundreds of more characters to choose from plus the large catalog of characters that Marvel Studios already had to play with. The possibilities are endless!
Deadpool will be staying within the 20th Century Fox brand as it is a R rated franchise while X-Men will end with Dark Phoenix (likely signalling its eventual addition to the MCU at some point). Do the X-Men join Phase 4 of the MCU or do they hold off until Phase 5. As of now we aren't aware of the plans that they have for the upcoming Phase 4 and it is extremely possible that it's already set in stone. But as we have seen in the past, they will make room for reality and make additions such as Spider-Man.
But after Spider-Man Far From Home there's nothing that has been officially dated. We know they're working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, The Eternals and Black Widow but no dates or time frames have been discussed. We'll know for certain whether or not our original Avengers team makes it out alive in Endgame and it will give us a better understanding of what to expect from Phase 4.
As we all speculate on what Endgame will bring us, we can only hope for a bright future for the MCU, whatever it takes!
